I love this book.
What would you do if you were 10 and you and your big sister promised to keep a big secret that affected every aspect of your life read this one and find out what one young lady struggled with.
i am reading book 2, and Nothing But The Truth. So far it is so good and i cant wait to read book 1 (backwards day :P) I reccomend you read it.
Polly and and her sister come to live with their Grandmother on an island near Vancouver. It's the depression and their Father has fallen on hard times and gotten himself in trouble. So, they must adapt to a new life with a new part of their family. A really delightful period piece, Kit Pearson never fails to write heartwarming fiction.
In the summer of 1932, the lives of shy Polly and her outspoken older sister Maud have been turned upside down! Their father is missing and presumed dead, so they are westward bound on a train to live on an island midway between Vancouver and Victoria with the grandmother they’ve never met. Almost immediately, 15-year-old Maud heads excitedly to boarding school, leaving Polly, 10, devastated and lonely. Slowly, she works her way through her grief and isolation, making a new friend and eventually accepting the warm embrace of her extended family. But the sisters share a secret which could destroy their new lives. Will the whole truth ever be known? A gentle coming-of-age story with a mystery twist. A sequel, And Nothing but the Truth, is to be published this fall. Reviewed by DC
Even better than this book was when the author herself commented on my book blog's review of it! Fantastic. http://anovelthing.wordpress.com/2012/03/02/the-whole-truth-kit-pearson/
It was pretty good but I was hoping for the secret to be a little more like wow but overall it was okay was definetly not my favourite kit pearson book
First thing I thought when I saw Pearson had new book out? Place a hold! I have to read this!! And, of course, Pearson is not one to dissapoint. The Whole Truth is yet another beautiful story written about two girls who's father abandons them for mysterious reasons. Polly, the main character, must learn to cope and fit in in her new, complicated life, where everything is so confusing to her. She wishes her life could be the same as it had once been, but of course that wasn't an option. I highly recommend this book, totally inspiring and gripping. Won't dissapoint, I promise :D
